Goodwood Festival of Speed

Published June 27, 2014 by thatstrangegirls

Hey,

So yesterday, I went to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. I went with Him and His Dad. We managed to get in through some tickets his father managed to get for free – and what’s better than a free day out? While the weather was all over the place, it was definitely a fun day out.

He and I met outside Worthing train station and got a train to Chichester. We didn’t have to be in Chichester for at least an hour, so we decided to kill some time by just chatting outside the station.

Once we were in Chichester, the first thing we did once we were outside the station was call His dad. His father was meeting us outside of the Goodwood gates, so we were just letting him know we were a bus ride away from being at Goodwood. However, his father didn’t answer his phone the first few times he tried to call, and then when it did connect, nobody spoke. He got a little agitated about it, but his father eventually picked up and said he was going to be a while.

Since we didn’t have to be at the festival for a while, after we found where the all-day bus to the festival was, we decided to go kill time in Chichester town centre. I showed him this old fashioned sweet shop that he was completely in awe of. We walked out of the shop with bubble tea (which we agreed we didn’t really like but it was interesting to try) and some blue raspberry bonbons. With no sign of his dad being around anytime soon, we decided to go get some lunch.

The pair of us ended up outside The Real Burger Kitchen. It’s one of those places that if you don’t know it’s there, you walk straight past it. He had never been before, so he was really surprised at how big and cosy the place was, considering it was hidden. He ended up having a pulled pork hotdog, and I had a grilled chicken burger with chips. We also ordered J20 for him and Dandelion and Burdock for me (Which we ended up sharing). The meal itself was delicious, and much cheaper than we expected.

Once we finished the meal, we decided to head back to the station and board the bus to the festival. It only left once the bus was completely full, which it wasn’t by the time we got there. This meant we had to sit and wait for the bus to slowly fill up with people before we were off. I don’t think either of us particularly minded though – with no contact from his dad, we both assumed he was still driving.

Finally, the bus left and we very quickly arrived outside the gates of the festival. However, since his father had the tickets, we couldn’t go in until he turned up. The weather was hot, we didn’t have suncream and we quickly finished our water while waiting. His father took over an hour to turn up, which only made Him get more and more stressed out. Once his father did turn up, all the stress seemed to melt out of him. He gave us the tickets to get in, and off we went

The actual festival itself was really fun. We saw lots of concept car designs, bought some overpriced water and ice-cream, rode down a slide (twice), tried on the Occulus Rift (which we both were very excited about. We got to design a car with our eyes – it was very cool), tried a weather simulator, played some games, and did lots, lots more.

The weather eventually turned sour – luckily He thought to pack an umbrella. This signalled the end of the festival at 7pm, and we all headed back to the carpark, as His father was giving us a lift home. The car itself was very hard to find as it was in a massive field, filled with cars of similar make and colour. This led to over fourty-five minutes worth of walking which He was not happy about. Coupled with the continuous rain and my bleeding ankle, it wasn’t a fun trek back.

However, His Dad bought us mcdonalds on the way back, so we were all full and happy. All in all, it was a really fun and… different day. It was more fun than I expected it to be, and I feel extremely lucky to have been invited.

I also was invited to Brighton the day before by one of my friends. With a short supply of money between us, it was difficult to get around, but we still had fun. We explored some shops, had some food and bought some new clothes between us, so it was much more fun than staying in at home all day.

Tonight i’m going to an NCS introduction-thingy-wotsit with the person in charge of my group and in theory, the people in my group. It should be interesting…

This whole eating-healthily thing really isn’t working out. I’m trying really hard but when people keep on buying you unhealthy food and you’re living out of the freezer, it isn’t easy. I am determined to keep trying though! It does mean i’ve put on weight though, meaning i’m unhappy with my weight again. That is really disappointing considering I was finally happy with my body.. I guess I just gotta keep trying to eat healthily where I can I guess.

My Prom is this time next week… aaaaah that’s scary. I don’t even know how i’m doing my hair yet..

Until next time!

Back to school!

Published January 7, 2014 by thatstrangegirls

Hey

So, sadly my Christmas holidays has come to an end, and we have started a new year. My new years was fairly uneventful.  I feel like considering it’s only been a week since the year has started, i’ve achieved a bit already!

I had my ears re pierced on the 2nd of January. (I had them pierced when I was seven at Claire’s but they closed up years ago!). I’m really pleased with them and love the look of them! They’re only plain, silver balls as the studs by they’re still amazing. I had them pierced at a proper piercing place instead of a flouncy accessories shop – Flux. The staff were lovely, the actual re piercing was very simple and the lady who pierced my ears went through each step before she did them, so I was comfortable.

On the 3rd of January I went into town with a group of friends to celebrate my friends birthday. Three people didn’t turn up but we all still went anyway.

The people that didn’t turn up wanted us to walk all the way into town which would have taken us a good hour and half! So as a group decision, we decided to screw that idea and walked to the train station instead (only 15 minutes) and got the train instead. He wasn’t with us. He lives in town already so we decided to meet him there near an Iceland shop. Although we originally planned to meet on the Pier, the freaky sea and crazy weather meant we kind of had to abandon that plan and decided to shelter until he appeared. Once he appeared, we grabbed a bite to eat at the local bakery/sandwich shop. We spent the rest of the day eating sweets from CandyLove, shopping for books (We went into Waterstones twice! I got two books.), drinking hot drinks, looking at DVDs and CDs and sheltering from the rain.

We were dragging the two boys with us (there were two boys and six girls. They were sort of overrun) and window shopping. We did drag the boys into a few girly shops such as New Look and even though they got a bit narky and bored, they didn’t seem to mind too much.

At the end of the day, we went our seperate ways and He and I got onto the bus to go to my house. Although the original plan was for him to get on the bus with me to make sure I got there safe, then get onto another bus home after, the insane weather meant the bus was late and we headed over to mine, soaked from head-to-toe.

My mum chucked his jeans into the tumble dryer and he changed into my pe trousers until they were dried. We then just chilled out until he had to go, two hours later.

We also met up the day after at my house and just chatted the entire time.

I went back to school today – the day was delightfully dull and uneventful. I actually missed school so i’m glad to get back into a routine of sorts. I also missed seeing my friends every day.

Hopefully this year will be just as good – or better than last year! I have so much happening in the next few months..

Good luck to me. I’ll probably need it.

My zombie-infested second date

Published February 12, 2013 by thatstrangegirls

Hi,

So our second date was amazing… and bizarre. It happened on Sunday, and it was perfect.

After spending the day (naturally, as i’m a girl) freaking out over clothes, I decided on some casual clothes and tried to kill time. Eventually, he turned up at our door, looking as perfect as ever. We hung out at my house for an hour or so hoping that it would stop raining, but as we live in England, notorious for it’s rainy weather, it didn’t. If anything, it got worse. Luckily, He brought an umbrella for us to share as we walked to my mums car (she was giving us a lift to the show!)

The car drive was pretty uneventful. He sat up front with mum giving directions, and my brother and I sat in the back tickling each other, drawing on the fogged up windows and just in general acting like children.

We got to the show eventually, with five minutes to spare. The university had random people whose faces had been painted to look like zombies dotted all over the place, helping  and giving directions to the room where the talk was going to happen. We paid and went in.

It was really crowded in the theater. Much more crowded than I thought it would be. The man in charge of the show was Theoretical Zombiologist, Doctor Austin. It was a really fun show with interactive bits, clips, and interesting bits of information. Him and I held hands throughout the show, and only let go to clap or to mimic some action that Doctor Austin made, such as his handwashing technique that helps keep your hands clean. The weirdest ones was the plunger… which looked dodgy. The funniness of the show really made me relax on the date and before I knew, it was over!

While we waited for my mum to come and pick us up, we both had a roll my mum made. He also had a drink. I’d of had one too, but I lost my straw (typical me!). We chatted a bit inside the entrance  while watching the rain, an slightly listening in on a bunch of goth kids complaining about some person, which we laughed about later.

Eventually, mum turned up and we clambered into the car. He nearly fell asleep in the car on my shoulder, and it was really cute! We told my mum about the show and chatted among ourselves a bit, the rain still splattering against the car. By this point, it’s around 8pm.

He kissed me really softly, then went back to resting his head on my shoulder. I practically melted at this. He then looked up at me, caught my eye and smiled lazily, which made me melt internally even more (not literally, that would be dangerous!)

After what felt like seconds, we were outside his house. We kissed goodnight, then the date ended.

It was a perfect, random evening. It certainly put a star in my pot!

Rain, rain and more rain

Published October 19, 2012 by thatstrangegirls

Hey,

A week ago, I took a science mock. If you didn’t get your target grade you had to resit it. I was the only one in my class to pass, with a C! I’m really quite proud :3 My science teacher keeps praising me, too. I’m doing well in a lot of other subjects too at the moment, like History, English and Health and Social Care.

Speaking of Health and Social Care… guess who managed  to delete all her files by accident on her BTEC course a week before it’s due in, which took six hundred minutes exactly to get up to this point. (I know this because lessons last 100 minutes each. 6 lessons in which we’re working on our slides about life development. You do the math.) It took ages to get the main file back… and it’s not even the recent version, it’s an old saved version that apparently had been stored on my laptop. Still, it saves a lot of time. I’m pretty mad at myself for somehow managing this too… All hail the ICT team at our school! Technology seriously does hate me.

I had my braces tightened… they’re pink now! … Well the bottom of them are, anyway. Apparently i’m not ”allowed” to have my top braces coloured… ugh.

Dad wanted to take us camping this weekend, but abruptly changed his mind when he saw the amazing, typical English weather… rain, rain and more rain!

School photos next week, for our student cards (we need them to buy food, to open certain doors, and they’re handy to use as tiny rulers!) my last photo was awful, I have such a goofy grin on my face, and my hair is short. Ah, year seven. Seriously though, i’m dreading this. I hate having my photo taken..

My little sister is as accident prone as me, if not more! She’s just unfortunate enough to have easy-to-bruise skin. She’s only one and covered in bruises from were she falls over or trips over a toy, or bashes her head on the wall repeatedly… all of this she’s done recently, too.She always comes out with tons of bruises, but never cries when she gets them. Brave ‘lil madam.

He and I have been good up until recently. I never eat my lunch since i’m just never hungry, so I share it with friends and eat what I want, if I fancy it. He’s gotten into trouble with his parents because he’s apparently ‘mooching’ off of me, when I offer… He‘s in trouble and it’s all my fault. Goddammit.

*sighs* well… life has its ups and its downs… I hope he’s not mad at me D: he’s such a martyr sometimes, but still…
